Since ironproject have adopted Club Rainbow Singapore as our charity for the past year. We have channeled all our pledges and donation to Club Rainbow Singapore. As of now, we have raised a total over $7000 for this charity.
Ride for Rainbows is an annual charity ride where riders would sign up and raise the minimum amount of donations to get to ride at the event. This year’s ride was brought forward from October to July in view of the higher occurrence of haze in previous years’ events.
So armed with some borrowed road bikes (only half of us rode their own bikes), we made our way down to Asia Square for the flag off 0630. The format of the ride was pretty casual and there wasn’t a peloton to follow as per previous year’s.
We had some good ol fun riding without any expectations except for completing the 105km ride. With a triple puncture on Brandem’s bike; our very resourceful domestique Bryan had spares and a pump to help fix it up and continue after the unexpected stop at the halfway mark.
Jaime caught up with us at one of the bus stop for a quick photoshoot! Also reminding us that we were way behind the leaders in our category. 😦
We crossed the finished line back at Asia Square and headed straight for the food. We all walked away empty handed after the lucky draw but filled up stomachs from all the free food at the carnival!
Our next big race will be Cebu 70.3 where 10 of us will be heading over to the Philippines. So follow us on our Facebook page for updates.
